Because it is a fact that the ridiculously "Over-Priced" European sports cars have always been unfairly overrated with high price tags that doesn't match up to their over-all supposed car quality! And to mention that when you have a German made vehicle for longer than a a couple of years, then you began to see and feel the decreasing and difference in the long haul over all "Quality-Deterioration" rather quickly! But however, The "Top" Advanced Engineered Quality of the All-American Corvette has a far much lower price tag, with tremendous "Aerodynamic" attributes, and an outstanding power-train warranty that (No) other auto manufacturer can ever top or match up to. You get the most Superiorly Mastered Machine for an "Unbelievably Reasonable Price!" that makes you feel like you're either rich to have it, or it makes you feel like a smart thief who have just Stolen it! Ha haa haaa..lol

The Chevrolet Corvette has been around longer than 62 Years! & The (Wana-Be-Vette,) Dodge Viper, has only been around barely 20 Years! And keep in mind that Dodge is not even all American anymore. Because the German company (Daimler) has bought more than 80% of the American made Dodge Company. Just like The German owned company bought the Italian Sports Car(s) called The (Lamborghini & Ferrari) both originally from "Italy." And was purchased by the German Volts Wagon/Audi Company as well as Fiat, altogether. The Ford Motor Car company bought the (Jaguar & Land Rover) a England British automobile company from Britain, and sold it too! And before the slow down of the economy in America during the Bush Administration from (2001.- 2008.) Also, with the unnecessary War in Iraq, which followed a near bankruptcy of the Big Three (3) auto makers in the world, of GM, Ford, & Dodge. They all had to cut or down-size big time. GM was going to purchase ford at first. But because of GM's too big of a size, that deal didn't work! And the only reason why ford ended up looking good because they didn't take the bail-out money like GM & Dodge, is because Ford was confident that they would be able to repay the loan back to the U.S. Government! So it made the company look strong, even though they wasn't, bet it made the American public put money into Ford and buy their products more faster, that it prevented ford from filing bankruptcy. Either way, it didn't make Ford Motor Company any better with quality at all compared to GM. But it did put back above Dodge/Chrysler...
